 THERMOCOUPLE EXTENSION AND COMPENSATING CABLES

Thermocouple extension cables / compensating cables are suitable for connection with thermocouples used for measurement and control of temperature. On the basis of environmental conditions, range of operation, period of operation and standard to be followed, a particular type of thermocouple and corresponding thermocouple extension cable are selected.

These cables are made from solid alloy wire or stranded conductors. The area of conductor varies from application to application.  The primary insulation over the conductors is provided by PVC compounds of different grades. The cores are coloured as per applicable standards and are twisted with an appropriate lay and staggered in a circular configuration for multi- pair cables. Pair identification is pro9vided by numbering. Shielding is provided by using conventional braid of copper / tinned copper or by using Al-Mylar tape in continuous contact with tinned copper drain wire (ECC).  The thermocouple extension cables are designed for smooth signal transmission and to reduce the effect of noise due magnetic interference and cross talk.
